Aoife Whitford – Vodafone World of Difference Winner 2013

We’ve had some great news for Le Chéile! Aoife
Whitford, a volunteer with the Cork project, approached us last month in
relation to applying to the Vodafone World of Difference competition, which
enables someone to work with an organisation of their choice for a year.

Aoife
currently works with Young Social Innovators, which creates opportunities for
young people to actively participate in their local community and  school
and encourages civic action and activism on social issues. Aoife approached Le
Chéile about the potential of piloting a similar approach for some of the young
people we work with and up-skilling interested volunteers.

It has now
been officially announced that Aoife is one of the five winners.

This is a
huge achievement and a great opportunity for Le Chéile and Young Person’s Probation and we’re
excited that we will be welcoming Aoife on board with us before the end of the
year and more details in relation to this will
follow over the coming months.

We’d like to give a huge thanks to the Vodafone Foundation for making this happen. I’d also like to
thank Cork Co-ordinator Fidelma Connolly and Mary Davis for all their assistance in making this happen and
supporting Aoife and on behalf of Le Chéile, I’d like to
congratulate Aoife on winning and look forward to welcoming her to Le Chéile!
