Mentors needed in Dublin

Youth and Parent Mentor Opportunities across County Dublin

Ignite Potential and Change Lives

Le Chéile Mentoring provides a one-to-one mentoring service for the parents of young people who are involved in the Justice System. We work closely with the Probation Service, An Garda Síochána, Oberstown Children Detention Campus, Crosscare and other agencies.

Who we’re looking for?

We are looking to recruit volunteer male and female youth and parent mentors over the age of 21 living across Dublin. Our mentors come from all communities and backgrounds and while no experience is necessary, a positive, flexible, reliable approach with good communication and interpersonal skills will be an advantage. Our parents come from all walks of life, so we are looking for people that can make a connection and build positive relationships. We are especially interested in recruiting volunteers from the following areas:

  • Southside:  D2, D4, D6, D6w, D8, D10, D12, D14, D16, D18, D22, D24, South County Dublin, Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown.
  • Northside:  D1, D7, D9, D11, D15, D17, North County Dublin.

What’s involved?

Once trained, you will be matched with a parent and mentoring sessions take place once a week for between one and three hours. Our volunteering is flexible, meaning you can meet during the day, evenings or at the weekends. These sessions aim to provide support and encouragement through either doing activities together or just meeting for a chat and a bite to eat. Le Chéile covers all costs; all you give is your time and your commitment.

What will you get out of it?

As a mentor, you have an opportunity to encourage positive change in the life of a parent through your kindness and support. Additionally, you can also expect the following:

  • Full induction training
  • Support of a trained Mentoring Co-ordinator
  • Regular group sessions with other Mentors
  • Ongoing training to learn new skills
  • Reimbursement for expenses
  • To meet new people and make new friends
  • To gain experience that will support your personal and professional development
